What to Report

When activated, report:

How to Report

  1. Listen before transmitting — don't step on other traffic
  2. Keep reports brief and factual
  3. Include your location — use landmarks, road intersections, or GPS coordinates
  4. Report what YOU observe — not what you heard elsewhere

Example Report Format

"Net Control, this is [CALLSIGN]. I'm at [LOCATION]. I'm observing [WEATHER CONDITION] and the time of this observation was [TIME OF OBSERVATION]."

SKYWARN Training

SKYWARN spotter training classes are offered periodically by the National Weather Service. These free classes teach you how to identify severe weather features and how to report them effectively.

Contact the Morristown NWS office or check their website for upcoming training dates.
