May 2026 Meeting Minutes

Roll call: 26 members in attendance

Officer Reports

President Mike Elkins: Discussed updating the club's 501(c)(4) status to 501(c)(3). Will discuss further this meeting and vote next meeting.

Treasurer Alicia Parham: The treasurer's report was read and passed. 30 current members, 4 life members.

Secretary Chan Patrick: Corrections or additions, passed. Old motions: motion made for a barrel, passed. Postcards ($235 for the postcard, $305 total to buy and mail), motion made and passed. TN Amateur Radio Association presentation about joining — motion made and passed.

VP Bobby Murphy: Absent. Moofest/Hamfest sign-up sheet was sent around.

Trustee Kevin Cornwell: Repeater update — the 275 repeater in Decatur is back up and running. The duplexer was fried; purchased a new duplexer for $495 and paid $50 to tune it. All repeaters are working well now.

Old Business

• Postcards: Harry talked about the postcards and has spares as well. Updated to the website. Final tally was approximately $312.45. Requested reimbursement — motion made to reimburse the difference, motion passed.
• Website: Updated Skywarn links on the website.

New Business

• Articles of Incorporation: Crystal talked about the new articles of incorporation — the middle section covers the purpose of the club, promoting scientific and emergency services. Went over all articles and how they would change if approved. Motion made to make Crystal the club attorney, motion passed.
• Field Day: Field Day is the 3rd weekend in June. Discussion about possibly changing the location of Field Day.
• Public Welcome Banner: Dale suggested making a sign or banner saying "Public Welcome." Motion made for Dale to look into getting a banner, motion passed.
• Emergency Day Recap: Thanks given for Emergency Day. Joe suggested cleaning out the trailer before Field Day. Members talked about the kids who got on the radio during Emergency Day and discussed inviting kids to Field Day. Caleb noted he heard a lot of great kids on the air during Emergency Day.
• Meshcore: Kenny talked about Meshcore and Kevin working on making it work better.
