April 2026 Meeting Minutes

Officer Reports
President Mike Elkins: [No report]
Treasurer Alicia Parham: Was not present.
Secretary Chan Patrick: Corrections or additions, passed. Old motions: $25 signs are normal and 2 at $35 — motion made to buy the signs, motion passed. Motion made to become a chamber member, Amy Elkins paid for it, passed.
VP Bobby Murphy:
- Hamfest (July 18th): Met with Sid Dickey and Lisa about the event at the High School — found the electrical, can use their chairs and one set of bleachers. There is a room for testing, double tables available. Need to sell tables. Jim Gifford will be there, Diamond Antennas will be there, Wireman might or might not be there, TN107 might be there. Will have a new cover for the floor. Will need a parking lot attendant. Will be able to use the PA system inside; has a Bluetooth mic we can use. Discussion of using the PA system in the trailer for outside for announcing winners. Can be set up the Friday night before from 4–6pm. Saturday morning will be open at 6am to be ready to go at 8am. Salty Mel's will be the food vendor. Volunteers needed for the parking lot. Joe donated two more canopies and is working on getting a golf cart. Signs for Hamfest have been picked up. Met with Jim Gifford — he brought all the prizes for Hamfest. Mike Elkins will be looking into tickets (needs at least 100). Ken might let us use his ticket machine, might look into a new roller. Motion made for a barrel, passed. Will have inmates come to help put out the floor covering; anyone who wants to come help is welcome. The janitor will need to be there Friday and Saturday. State Guard will no longer be needed.
- Upcoming Events: Moofest is coming up June 6th. Summer Field Day is the last weekend in June. May 8th — EK Baker/Clearwater Church is having Emergency Day 9am–2pm and the trailer will be there.
Trustee Kevin Cornwell: Pulled the old 275 repeater out and put a new one in, but had the same issues. Still working on getting it figured out.

New Business
- HF Radios Donated: HF radios were donated to the club to be auctioned off.
- Postcards to Local Hams: Harry reported there are 301 licensed hams in McMinn County and discussed sending postcards ($235 for the postcard, $305 total to buy and mail). Caleb offered to help. Motion made and passed.
- Signal Link Cable: Will Davis needs a signal link cable — Bobby has one he is going to donate.
- ACS Exercise: ACS has an exercise Saturday April 18th from 10–11am and will probably use all the repeaters.
- TN Amateur Radio Association: Did a presentation about the club joining. Motion made and passed.
- Repeaterbook: Only one repeater shows up on Repeaterbook — needs to be updated.
- Skywarn Meeting: May 2nd, Skywarn meeting in Madisonville at 11am.
