February 2026 Meeting Minutes

Officer Reports

President Mike Elkins: [No report]

Treasurer Alicia Parham: The treasurer's report was read and passed. 17 current members, 4 life members.

Secretary Chan Patrick: Corrections or additions, passed. Old motions: James Speed donated the equipment, motion made to make him a lifetime honorary member, motion passed. $2000 Hamfest budget motion made, passed.

VP Bobby Murphy:

• Hamfest (July 18th): A slide show that was sent to vendors was viewed, prices were discussed. No food or drink allowed in the gym but can eat outside the gym at tables. MARS rep will be there too. Will need a PA system, parking lot manager, table manager, and money for change.
• Hamfest Admission: $10 admission, $5 extra to tailgate. General admission gets you one ticket. Need new tickets, at least 1000 tickets (Charlie had gotten them last year).
• ARRL Sanctioned: We are now sanctioned for ARRL. They are sending us coupons for prizes.
• Upcoming Events: Moofest is June 6th. Summer Field Day June 27/28. October 10th. Christmas parade is first Monday in December.
• New Repeater: Colt Holton in GA has put up a new repeater — transmit 443.575 (+) and receive 448.575 (+), tone 141.3. Currently listed on the Elmer's page on the webpage.

Old Business

• The 847 has been delivered to Central High School. Will said Central High wanted to thank us for the radio — they were able to reach out to the International Space Station. Volunteers needed to help move an antenna at Central High School. Possibly have stations where students can do it hands-on, and there are several students wanting to get their license.

New Business

• Kevin was nominated as trustee, motion passed.
• A committee was formed to help monitor the repeaters. Reed, David, Thomas, and Caleb were put on the committee and Kevin will be in charge.
• The ACS is working with the hospital coalition now and the next scenario will be Dec 19.
• A program about mesh will be Saturday, Feb 21 at the EOC.
• March 14th will have an Emergency Working.
• March 29th will be Light Up the Hiwassee River.
• Dalton Hamfest is Feb 28th.
• Gary donated a lot of QST magazines to be given away.
• Will also put in for a grant through the ARRL for a week-long meeting.
