November 2025 Meeting Minutes
Kenny did the prayer, Darris did the pledge.
Roll call: 20 members in attendance
Officer Reports
President Mike Elkins: GMRS discussion about being able to be a vendor at the Hamfest, not able to have a repeater for the GMRS.
Treasurer Alicia Parham: The treasurer's report was not read, was not present. 4 life members.
Secretary Chan Patrick: Corrections or additions, passed. Old motions: discussion on the club buying the ham and turkey, passed. Tabled discussion: GMRS and 2026 Hamfest ticket prices.
VP Bobby Murphy:
- Winter Field Day: January 24-25
- Christmas Parade: December 1st, 4pm start time, starting at the Athens Middle School. December 8th is the rain date. Frequency will be 060. Discussion on buying safety vests and going through trailer to see what vests are in there.
- Christmas Dinner: Will be at Southern Events, Wednesday 11/12/25
- Slow Scan TV: Starting for 12 days to see the International Space Station. APRS will also show where the space station is.
- 2026 Hamfest: Will be changing to the McMinn County High School for 2026. Discussion made for a Hamfest committee. Talk of different vendors that want to come. Discussion was made about new signs, ticket prices. Discussion made about $20/vendor tickets, $10/outside vendors, $10/ticket prices. Will need different tickets that are numbered. Motion was made last year whoever is over the Hamfest has the discretion of what to buy and how to direct the Hamfest. Budget will be voted on in January.
Trustee David Baker: Watts Bar graded exercise will be 11/19/25 and will be on APRS for communication.
Old Business
Watts Bar graded exercise scheduled for 11/19/25.
New Business
- Certificate given to Judy for her coordinating of the Chili Supper
- Bobby will be the head of the Hamfest Committee
- Kevin, Michael, Chan, Amy, and Susan are part of the committee
- Will have a ham radio class in the beginning of 2026
- Elections were made for 2026 - the board was re-elected for 2026
- The Comms Channel is the channel for Kevin that is taken over the website
- Amounts were given for the chili dinner
