Light Up the Hiwassee — Annual Exercise
Everyone is invited to this annual event held on the Hiwassee River where we attempt to build a voice and APRS network from Hiwassee Dam, NC to Calhoun, TN. Cleveland Amateur Radio Club has "over watch" on us that day, but it is up to us to get the key words from one end to the other, hitting all designated areas along the river.
This year's key words for the network are "MM" and "April" — and yes, you guessed it, there will be a regional SET in April. It will be an M&M exercise, so you might want to practice your M&M technique while deployed on the Hiwassee.
Remember: there are two ways to put yourself on the APRS map using RF. One way uses only your base call-sign. The other way, you do not use your base call-sign at all, but your call-sign with an SSID. Can you remember why?
